Dr. Tabiri’s journey in mathematics began in Accra, Ghana, where her love for solving mathematical problems was evident from a young age. Her academic prowess led her to the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Ghana, where she currently serves as the Academic Manager for the Girls in Mathematical Sciences Programme (GMSP). This program aims to nurture the talents of senior high school girls, unlocking their potential in the mathematical sciences.

Dr. Tabiri’s winning presentation in the Big Internet Math-Off captivated audiences with a hands-on activity demonstrating the constancy of Pi (π) and an exploration into the world of prime numbers and Fibonacci’s sequence. Her engaging approach highlighted the beauty and importance of mathematics, showcasing how the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter is always π, and revealing intriguing patterns within prime numbers and the golden ratio in nature.

Advocacy and Impact

Beyond her academic achievements, Dr. Tabiri is a passionate advocate for STEM education. She founded Femafricmaths, a non-governmental organization that promotes female African mathematicians. Through her YouTube channel, she interviews “mathsqueens” to inspire young people about the diverse career options available in mathematics.

Dr. Tabiri’s contributions to mathematics and education have been recognized globally. She is a Fellow of the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future program, which supported her PhD studies at the University of Glasgow, UK.
