- PhD Title: A Decision Support System (DSS) for Operating Multipurpose Hydropower Reservoirs
- Year of Completion: 2002

PhD Overview
A decision support system (DSS) was developed for optimal operation of multi-reservoir systems. The key components of the system were four main modules: database management, inflow modeling and forecasting, operation management, and real-time operation. A utility function was also developed based on multi-criterion decision making (MCDM) that used an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The MCDM utility function enabled decision makers to incorporate the priority of objectives in developing optimal operating policies. The DSS was applied to the Dez and Karoon river-reservoir system. The results showed that long-term power generation of the system was increased while satisfying water demands.
Sustainability Goals
